The Client Challenge and Project Breif:

Chris and Sarah Byrne from Sutton, Surrey contacted me via email as he was looking to have a glass balustrade installed to their new patio area as there is quite a drop at the front edge of the patio.

Chris had seen on my website the glass balustrade system where there is no handrail and where the glass panels finish level with the post. I call this a free floating glass balustrade. They also required one side of their balustrade to be opaque and 1.7m tall. As with all free floating glass balustrades that Visage supplies and installs, I always recommend the thickness of the glass to be 13.5mm toughened laminated glass which gives the customer that extra strength and protection when opting to have a glass balustrade with no handrail.
As with all glass balustrades that we install onto patio tiles like the one we installed for Chris and Sarah, extra care has to be taken when drilling the fixing holes for the post and a special diamond drill bit has to be used to drill a clean round hole on the patio tiles.
