Staircase Renovation Brentwood

We stripped out the old timber balustrade and installed brand new oak handrail and base with 10mm clear toughened glass

The Client Challenge and Project Breif:

I was contacted by Terry Gilley who is based in Brentwood, Essex. He was after a staircase balustrade renovation. He wanted to strip out his old timber staircase balustrade and replace it with a new oak slotted handrail and base rail using 10mm clear toughened glass. The benefits of a glass staircase balustrade like the one we completed for Terry, not only does it look stylish it completely transforms your stairwell and landing area by making the area seem a lot more open.

For this project, we completely stripped out the old timber handrails, base rails and timber spindles. The client kept the old newel posts which he repainted white. Once all new oak handrails and base rails were installed we templated for the shaped glass panels up the staircase. It then takes around 10 working days for all the glass panels to be manufactured. Once ready we returned back to site to install all the glass panels to the staircase. Leaving one happy customer with their new glass, timber staircase.

The Visage Glass & Steel Solution:

At Visage glass and steel we offer various different glass staircases designs. We can do a complete staircase renovation for you, where we strip out all the old timber balustrade and then install new handrail, base rails. Whether that be in soft wood (pine) which can then be painted to the colour you choose. Or like this staircase renovation in Brentwood, Essex where you can opt for hardwood timber, like oak.
In regards to the design there are two different styles when installing glass to the timber staircase. either the option of slotted glass panel design (same as this project in Brentwood, Essex) or you can opt for the stainless steel glass clamps design.
Another option is the frameless glass staircase balustrade system, where the glass panels are fixed onto the stinger of your staircase using stainless steel glass standoffs. For this option you would need to use 17.5mm toughened laminated glass.

Client Testimonial

I highly recommend Joe and his team if you’re looking to renovate your staircase.

Their attention to detail in their finished work was exceptional and I couldn’t be more pleased with my new glass staircase. It has completely transformed our property.
